A$AP Rocky is taking his fashion influence to new levels, as the Harlem rapper has been named the first-ever guest artistic director for streetwear and lifestyle brand PacSun.
Their first release is a Vans Old Skool shoe with fiery streaks in either black, white or silver colorways, arriving this Friday, July 16th.
"This partnership is special to me because it’s a collaboration that combines my roots, A$AP Worldwide, and some of the most respected heritage brands that have roots in both the sportswear and lifestyle worlds," Rocky said in a statement. "Together with PacSun, we will be releasing several limited-edition collections that are both nostalgic and forward at the same time."
Rocky and A$AP Mob recently worked with PacSun to deliver a spring 2020 capsule including T-shirts, long sleeve shirts, hoodies and sweatpants. They first joined forces for a capsule collection back in 2014.
PacSun president Brie Olson applauded Rocky's vision, saying, "The design process working with Rocky has really allowed the PacSun brand, which has always been built on youth culture, to connect design innovation with what is happening from a cultural perspective and translate that into coveted unique product offerings and design collaborations for our consumer."
In his new position, Rocky will oversee designer collaborations, campaigns and in-store activations at the brand's New York and Los Angeles stores over the next 18 months.
Another rapper prepping a major clothing collab is 29-year-old IDK.
Riding the momentum of his intricate and cohesive sophomore album, 'Is He Real?', IDK and Guess are linking for what appears to be a matching denim jacket and pant set featuring red lining and stitching.
