It comes as a surprise practically to no one that Cristiano Ronaldo has officially left Manchester United and is now a free agent. Now, the question is: what happens next? Here's what we know so far.

Let's take a look back: everything first began to skyrocket at Manchester United in 2003. The team signed Ronaldo when he was only 18 years old, and they won the FA Cup in his first season. During his initial time at United, the team would win three consecutive Premier League titles, the Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup. Then, in 2009, Ronaldo was transferred to Real Madrid in one of the most expensive transfer deals ever made. Ronaldo continued to win and become a legend at Real Madrid. He became the club's all-time top goalscorer. In 2018, Ronaldo signed with Juventus, and he spent several years there before what was supposed to be a fairytale moment when he returned to the place where he won his first Ballon d'Or, Manchester United. But what was meant to be a dream moment for Ronaldo and the club turned into a bitter nightmare...

When Manchester United announced Ronaldo’s return to the club, it received more than 12 million likes on Instagram. No surprise, people had questions. Ronaldo sat down with Piers Morgan for a two-part interview, where he did not hold back about his feelings toward Manchester United, among other things. He said about his now-former team, “But I was surprised, in a bad way, let’s say in that way, because I saw everything was the same. At United, the progress was zero, in my opinion.” Not only did he think there wasn’t any progress, but he also had a few choice words to say about the manager, Erik ten Hag. “I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me. If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.” How does one come back from this? Apparently, you don’t. The club released in a statement, “Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.”

Where will the superstar player go next? Perhaps he will go to Chelsea and end his career at one of the most renowned clubs. Or maybe he will head to the US of A and spend the last years of his career playing in Major League Soccer? Where do you think Ronaldo will go next? Stay tuned.
