Not only are LeBron James and Kylian Mbappé two of the most dominant athletes in the world but they're also two of Nike's most prized assets. It's only right then that all three make performance shoe history together.

Celebrating the relationship and shared philanthropic commitment of two global superstars like LeBron James and Kylian Mbappé calls for a sneaker release like none other.

Enter Nike's "The Chosen 2" pack including a basketball shoe and soccer cleat based on, respectively, the LeBron 18 model and the tried-and-true Mercurial, first introduced in 1998.

LeBron's look arrives in mostly black Knitposite 2.0 save for red and purple decorations like double Swooshes near the toe box, a meld of the players' signature logos on the tongue and a detailed collar.

Raising the bar: Both refreshed products are inspired by "the idea of duality, parallel paths" and therefore utilize many of the same details from spacey color schemes to special accents to innovative materials.

Speaking on the collab, Mbappé called LeBron a "unique champion" and continued, "I have the deepest respect for him on, but also off the court. He is an inspiration to me. From Akron to Paris, we are both taking action to move the lines in our society and offer a better world to the younger generation. I truly hope our common message will have a strong social impact and this is just the beginning of our stories."

The importance of sparking change was communicated throughout 'Bron's message, too. "No matter where I go in the world, I will always be just a kid from Akron," he said. "And I will always use my platform and do everything I can to uplift and empower the kids coming up after me. It’s about creating real, tangible change, and always leaving a place better than you found it."

That's clean: 14 years LeBron's junior, Mbappé's legacy may not be on the same level as the 4x NBA champ, but his otherworldly boot will certainly be remembered. Its sole is dipped in an iridescent mix and the back-to-back Swooshes demand attention.

Earlier this week, the two superstars sparked chatter of a possible capsule when they swapped profile pictures on Instagram. Fans can find each silhouette on Nike's site this Saturday, Jan. 9.
