Kevin Durant previewed the first Nike KD13 'Funk' Gamer Exclusive sneaker as part of a collaboration between Nike Basketball and NBA 2K. 🔥
Starting Monday, May 4, players will be able to unlock access to a real-life pair of the KD13 'Funk' GEs by winning a MyPLAYER Nation playoff game. (Hope y'all been practicing!)
Available exclusively through the SNKRS app, pairs are limited and can only be accessed by players in the United States.
This latest design points to Durant's "affinity for bassline grooves and baseline moves with a bold floral pattern that's as fresh as his jumper of a chart-topping track." Not exactly inspired by video games, but that's alright.
A light green color base covers the tongue and laces, outer Swoosh, outer sole, and acts as the backdrop for the vibrant floral print. In between the outer sole and midsole near the outer toe of the shoe lies a half-covered rubber pink 7, which is KD's number.
On the opposite side, the Swoosh is smaller and flipped and colored pink with visible white stitching. The collar and midsole are fully black and links of gold chains are interspersed with the floral print wrapped around the main part of the shoe.
Originally announced last October, the Nike Basketball x NBA 2K20 GE series included ten different drops available only to players who unlock certain challenges in the game. Some of the most popular editions were the Kobe 5 Protro “Chaos”, the LeBron 17, Adapt BB 2.0 “Chicago”, and the PG 4 “Gatorade”.
In early April, Nike and NBA 2K shared the news that they would introduce four more GEs to celebrate the NBA 2K20 MyPLAYER Nation playoffs, which were supposed to coincide with the real NBA playoffs.
