Drake's ties to the NBA run deep: acting as an ambassador for the Raptors, playing one-on-one with Kevin Durant in "Laugh Now Cry Later," etc. But once upon a time he got a little too involved and had to pay the price.
On the long list of Drake's buddies who play in the NBA are Steph Curry and Draymond Green. He's sat courtside at a handful of their games and even squabbled with Dray after a Raptors win in the 2019 NBA Finals.
Naturally, the three also make a point to hang out following less heated games. According to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, though, he once had to fine them $500 – Drizzy included – for holding up the team's plane.
"We were flying to L.A. after our home game and we all got to the airport and Steph and Draymond weren’t on the plane at the departure time," Kerr recounted during a recent press conference. "Steph said, 'Oh, my fault. I’m with Drake and Draymond and we're at the arena still.'"
"We had a team rule at the time that you could bring a friend on the plane a couple times a year. Unbeknownst to me, Steph decided to use one of his slots for Drake. So Drake got on the plane that night with Draymond and Steph and I fined all three of them for being late. Drake paid his $500 fine."
What a guy.
These days, Drake prefers extra privacy when he travels, typically opting for his Virgil Abloh-designed Air Drake jetliner. His latest trip reportedly took him to the Bahamas, where he soaked up the sun and played cards with Lil Baby, Meek Mill and Michael Rubin.
