As the latest installment in Top Dawg Entertainment's (TDE) "Fan Appreciation Week," Isaiah Rashad returns to the limelight with "Why Worry," his first song in nearly four years. 🌞
Fans of Isaiah's smooth, diverse and reflective sound have been anxiously awaiting his next move ever since he delivered his critically-acclaimed album, The Sun's Tirade, in fall 2016.
With Isaiah's Los Angeles-based label TDE, also home to major acts like Kendrick Lamar, SZA and ScHoolboy Q, rolling out a series of new tunes this week, his unwavering supporters were finally rewarded for their patience on Wednesday with "Why Worry."
Produced by Crooklin, the casual track finds Isaiah offering lighthearted tidbits about how fame and success have altered his relationships with family and friends.
An electric guitar backdrop and uplifting horn loop join hands on the hook as Isaiah cooly refrains, "Yeah, yeah, dollar signs in the mornin' Where the fonk at? / Follow me."
Isaiah offered some background on the track's creation shortly before it was released, tweeting that it was recorded in 2017 at his mom's house following the Lil Sunny Tour. He also noted that "Why Worry" won't be included on his new album, which has yet to be titled.
Of course, most fans of the 28-year-old artist were overjoyed to hear what he's been working on. Others, though, continue to plead for a new album.
This latest single comes several days after Kenny Beats previewed an unheard song with Isaiah on his Twitch stream. The two have been spending a lot of time in the studio together as of late.
Earlier this week, TDE also dropped Ab-Soul's "Dangerookipawaa Freestyle" and Zacari's "This Woman's Work" featuring Che Ecru and "Edamame."
Not sure what else is in store, but with Kendrick's name being tossed around this week in a growing beef between Young Thug and French Montana, now could be a prime time for the reclusive rapper to make his presence known.
