It's been a while since we heard a new track drop from Playboi Carti. In recent years, his controversial music releases took over Spotify by storm, dividing listeners globally. After a two-year musical hiatus, he has teased his return and is preparing to make his comeback.

On Saturday, December 24th, the rapper from Atlanta made a comeback to social media. After he deactivated his Instagram account, he decided to make a drastic comeback for a special announcement. We last heard from Carti in 2020 when he dropped the hyped-up album, Whole Lotta Red. Many music fanatics took it in their power to review the album intensely, and in the likelihood of these events, the album received diversified responses. Yet, what did anyone have better to do in 2020 than Spotify surf as we sat patiently for the lockdown to be lifted? With that in mind, his album achieved its debut at No.1 on the Billboard 200 charts and started an online cult. Considering many fans couldn't control themselves over the release, Carti's career took off. Since then, the 'Punk Monk' rapper has released teasers and merchandise and made live performance festival appearances for his Carti-cult.

Over the recent days, Carti has dropped hints to his fans that new music is on the way, and fans are beside themselves. Re-activating his Instagram was only the beginning of the hype, but he didn't want to leave his followers hanging for too long. He proceeded to post an image with the renowned 'Parental Advisory Explicit Content' thumbnail, teasing that a front cover is set to make its appearance. To heat things up a little, he further posted stories of screenshots from his phone of audio recordings and another with musical waves. Once he was done with Instagram, he moved over to bluebird territory. He started with a simple tweet on Christmas day, exactly two years after Whole Lotta Red dropped, "Hello Twitter," followed by, "love all my supporters, it's time." As predicted, the Twitter threads started pulling through with constant debate over what these tweets meant. His fans are on the case and won't let anything slide without them noticing.

Considering his track record, Playboi Carti is always full of surprises and makes sure his fans never know his next move. While these Tweets and Instagram posts might be playing up now, who knows how long it might take for the full release. That being said, 2023 is just days away, so this could be the perfect chance to bring in the new year with new music. Stay tuned.
