"P***y Power" is a fan-favorite cut from Gunna's 'DS4Ever' for a couple of reasons. Not only does Drake offer a dope verse but the beat includes a woman sensually moaning and imitating sounds made in the bedroom.
It's so steamy that Metro Boomin had to recreate the original sample, as singer Donna Summer's estate refused to give clearance.
Nicki Minaj recently revealed in an interview she also struggled to grasp the song's sexuality. Appearing on the Dana Cortez Show, the 39-year-old claimed Gunna himself asked her to record a verse for "P Power."
While her initial reaction was "this beat is outta here," she couldn't bring herself to write anything after sitting with it for months. "To me, it felt like, do it or don't do it. So, I knew in order to get on the track that I would have to be explicit and I would have to really kill it and be explicit and talk that real talk, and I wasn't ready. I just wasn't there," Nicki explained.
Nicki welcomed a son back in Sept. 2020, which is part of the reason she doesn't feel the urge to be as raunchy in her lyrics as she used to be. Even beyond Gunna, Nicki feels like there's "overkill" with a lot of today's popular hip-hop music in terms of the outspoken sexual lyrics.
Wunna caught wind of Nicki's interview, though he doesn't seem to have any hard feelings regarding the situation.
He called her "a real player" in an IG Story and wrote, "We still coming !" In the meantime, Nicki just connected with Lil Baby for her first single of 2022, "Do We Have A Problem?"
