Wiz Khalifa – The Saga of Wiz Khalifa
To celebrate the annual April 20th holiday, Wiz Khalifa dropped off a 7-song EP, The Saga of Wiz Khalifa.
With notable features from Megan Thee Stallion, Quavo, Tyga, Mustard, as well as a few others, Wiz gifted his green-friendly fans with some laidback yet groovy tunes appropriate for a holistic relaxation session.
One of the most memorable moments of the project comes on the Hitmaka-produced "Still Wiz," which samples the famous keys and strings combo from Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's 1999 anthem "Still D.R.E." Listen and love the nostalgia. 💨
Westside Gunn – Pray for Paris
As the leader of the Buffalo-based trio Griselda, Westside Gunn has championed a sound that blends traditional hardcore hip-hop elements with the cultural interests of the modern rap fan.
One of his most frequented touchpoints is fashion, and listeners can hear the influence that design plays across Gunn's latest musical delivery, Pray for Paris.
On the soothing "327," supported by huge names like Joey Bada$$ and Tyler, The Creator, as well as Billie Essco, Gunn harps on his swag and the state of the culture. "Balenciaga with the heel, lemonade a popular drink still," he raps, referencing a legendary line from Gang Starr's “DWYCK.”
Further reflecting the role of fashion in Gunn's mood board, the Romantic era-style cover art for Pray for Paris was designed by Off-White founder and streetwear god Virgil Abloh.
You won't regret spending about 40 minutes with Gunn and his Paris-themed parade. 🍾
dvsn – A Muse in Her Feelings
After a two and a half year hiatus, Toronto R&B duo dvsn returned over the weekend with their third studio album, A Muse in Her Feelings. Though singer Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85 are known for their slow and seductive sound, this latest album represents a move toward a slightly more straightforward and upbeat approach.
Listeners will find this shift alongside the angelic singing of Snoh Aalegra on "Between Us." As Daley admitted in an interview with Genius, his goal was to be as "stripped-down" as possible, revealing an extra layer of vulnerability in his songwriting.
"Let me start by sayin' sorry / Some days I take your time for granted," he smoothly sings, kicking off the opening verse.
As one of the original signees on Drake's OVO Sound imprint, it's no surprise to see fellow OVO stars like PARTYNEXTDOOR and Popcaan as featured guests on the 16-song offering. However, dvsn were also glad to let down any boundaries, leading to collaborations with an array of talents from Future and Summer Walker to Reggae leader Buju Banton.
As a more gentle counterpart to PARTYNEXTDOOR's recently released PARTYMOBILE, dvsn's A Muse in Her Feelings will more than satisfy as the soundtrack to your late afternoon endeavors. 🙌
