While fans eagerly await Bobby Shmurda's potential prison release later this month, another big name in New York hip-hop just made his way home: Juelz Santana.
The fourth Dipset member walked free from the Petersburg Medium Federal Corrections Institution in Virginia earlier this week. His wife Kimbella hopped on his Instagram to confirm his arrival after a week-long delay.
"Juelz was supposed to get released last Tuesday but some s*** happened," she said. "But we're outside of the prison now and he's gonna be released any minute. And I'll leave it all up to him when he gets out. Stay tuned!"
In 2018, the then 36-year-old artist was sentenced to 27 months in prison on weapon and drug charges. Earlier that year, TSA at Newark International Airport found a loaded handgun and oxycodone inside his carry-on. He initially dodged authorities but turned himself in a few days later.
Upon returning home, Santana celebrated with his children and loved ones. "I missed my family.. GOD is good!!!" he captioned a couple of photos of him hugging his son and daughter. He also enjoyed a fresh cut for the first time in five months! Not to mention a filling breakfast.
Among those who greeted Santana was Dipset partner Jim Jones. "Back like a heart attack you heard!" he shouted in one clip.
As Santana's focus shifts to new music, it's worth noting that his manager Twin claimed in a March interview with The Breakfast Club that Santana's long-awaited collab album with Lil Wayne, I Can't Feel My Face, could drop this summer.
"We do have a whole, like, 25 songs that we're about to go through and pick through," Twin explained. "We already spoke to Wayne. Him, [Wayne’s manager Cortez Bryant] and everybody’s on board. So we're gonna put that out within the next six months. So that’s another project."
