Slim Thug is the latest pop culture figure to be diagnosed with COVID-19.
The 39-year-old Houston rapper, famous for anthems like "Thug" and "I Run the Streets," revealed his diagnosis in a video posted to his Instagram on Tuesday afternoon.
He decided to get tested after coming down with a slight fever and cough a few days ago, even though he claims to have been taking serious precaution against the virus. "As careful as I've been – self-quarantining, staying home – I might've got something to eat or did some stuff like that. Simple stuff like that, nothing crazy," he said. "Stayed in my truck, had masks, gloves, everything on. And my test came back positive."
He advised viewers to "take this stuff serious" before reassuring them that he's feeling good and has no issues right now.
Thug's announcement comes a couple days after Styles P, another veteran rapper, said he almost died in January after battling an aggressive sickness that wasn't the flu. "I almost died in January . And I never get the flu and if I do it’s a day or two . In January I was down for a week and lost about 8 pounds !! I had the rona !!" he tweeted.
He was fortunate enough to recover with the help of natural remedies like black seed oil and a juice and tea diet.
Meek Mill also speculated about a serious, undiagnosed flu-like illness that he came down with back in December. It left him 15 pounds lighter and sicker than he had ever been in his life.
"Everyday I said to myself a older person cannot survive this!" he tweeted.
Sending well-wishes to Slim Thug and others in hip-hop as they work to stay healthy. 🙏
