Roughly a week after being admitted to the hospital for unknown reasons, Gunna jumped on IG Live while in the backseat of a Maybach to let his 3.6 million followers know he's out and feeling "good."

The 28-year-old also shared what made him seek medical help.

According to Gunna, he had pneumonia "really, really bad." When fans initially discovered he was sick, some speculated he was suffering from the side effects of drug use.

Numerous examples of Gunna's taste for codeine aka lean can be heard across his catalog, like on 2018's "Toast Up." It's one of the most referenced vices in all of hip-hop, initially gaining popularity in the '90s when Houston's DJ Screw made slowed-down music to complement its effects.

Typically mixed with sodas like Sprite or Fanta, rappers using codeine is a widely accepted trend. Other drugs, however, remain taboo.

In May 2020, Gunna's fans were stunned when they saw him do a whippet on IG Live. One blog even refused to promote his music.

Thankfully, Gunna appears to be alright. Not only did he tease his next album, which could be the 4th entry in his celebrated 'Drip Season' series, but he got right back to flexing. Specifically, a rose gold Cartier watch that Young Thug gave him along with 3 Audemars Piguet timepieces.

Plus, he reunited with one of his favorite collaborators, Metro Boomin, in the studio. "I left the doctor and went straight to the doctor," Gunna says.
