In Gunna's hometown of South Fulton, Georgia near Atlanta, Sept. 16th, 2021 was officially declared "Sergio Giovanni 'Gunna' Kitchens Day."
Yup, the 28-year-old was given his very own date "for setting a stellar example to the young people in [his] community" during a ceremony hosted by the city's mayor, Bill Edwards.
One section of Gunna's plaque reads, "Just like the Phoenix, rising above the ashes of adversity, Gunna is committed to giving back to the community that raised him, buffered him, sheltered him and supported him by creating Gunna’s Drip Closet and Goodr Grocery Store, which is set to provide students of McNair Middle School with access to free meals, clothing and toiletries for years to come."
The next part continues, "Since 2018, through his Gunna Great Giveaway Foundation, Gunna has exhibited his efforts to serve the greater good, by hosting free grocery stores in the community and providing over $100,000 in gift cards to families during the pandemic and supplied thousands of families in Houston, Texas with household items after the 2021 historic winter storms."
That Goodr grocery store for McNair Middle School is actually the same school Gunna himself attended. It'll supply food for roughly 900 students and their families, according to social entrepreneur Jasmine Crowe.
Pitchfork writer Alphonse Pierre likened Gunna's fit to an anime high school character's with the untucked shirt and dress shorts. Wunna recently popped out in London wearing a fire varsity jacket from vVERTABRAE, a low-key brand also worn by Lil Baby, Young Thug and G Herbo.
