Fans were reminded of French Montana's cultural impact when he went hit for hit with Tory Lanez. 👊

Instagram Live has been the place to be if you're a hip-hop head looking for some entertainment. After super producers Boi-1da and Hit-Boy went song for song last weekend on IG Live, French and Tory did the same with their catalogs on Tuesday night.

But this time around, fans seemed to think the result was more one-sided, leaning in favor of French.

DJ Akademiks was outspoken about who he thought was the winner before the battle was even over.

Ak also suggested that French should've taken on DJ Khaled instead. "Tory a great artist.. but his songs aint had remotely the impact as some of them anthems by French," Akademiks tweeted. "Khaled would do work tho against French.. actually against anybody."

To his point, it's unclear why these two artists chose to face off against one another when they have different lanes. Besides having several more years than Tory in the rap game, French has done way more features and remixes, while many of Tory's hits like "Say It" and "Freaky" are solo records.

Tory was quick to dispute Ak's thoughts, though.

"That wasn’t the point . The point was to show the world we both had records !" he tweeted. "And now I’m number 1 trending on twitter and French is also trending right now ... mission accomplished ."

You can watch Tory concede a round to French in the clip below after French played "Stay Schemin'" featuring Drake and Rick Ross. Don't blame him, tbh.

Though Tory may have taken the "L" with this one, he's been doing NUMBERS on IG Live with his wildly engaging "Quarantine Radio" show. Since starting the series last week, he's brought in Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Megan Thee Stallion, Wiz Khalifa and many others.

A few hours before joining French Montana, Tory chopped it up with Drake and they hit a record 300k+ viewers. Tory asked him how he was able to stay corona-free after hanging out with Kevin Durant, who tested positive for the illness a few days later.

"Honestly, a glass of wine keeps the 'rona away, boys," he responded while sipping a large glass of grape.
