Two dogs. One crown. 👑

For the next round of the Verzuz live hit-for-hit saga, Snoop Dogg will go against DMX in what's fittingly being called "The Battle of the Dogs.”

Rules are the same as always in the virtual celebration of hip-hop that was founded by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland several months ago. Each artist will be able to play 20 songs from their discography, one by one.

Though Swizz and Timbaland technically decide the "winner" following the event, commentary from fans online always reigns supreme. ScHoolboy Q, who's from Snoop's hometown of Los Angeles, commented on Instagram that the battle would be "easy work" for Uncle Snoop.

In general, people seem to be somewhat split on who will come out on top.

Looking at the numbers, Snoop (43) has 28 more Hot 100 hits than DMX (15). But competition between the two will be tight without a doubt.

X may not have "hits" from a Billboard perspective, but he's the only living rapper to have released two multi-platinum albums, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot and Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood, in the same year, 1998. In other words, he has a large, dedicated fan base.

This move comes after Eminem reportedly said he'd be interested in taking on DMX, who initially had his sights set on JAY-Z. Though X claimed Em “can get [that smoke]," he was still eager to face-off against Jay.

The dog fight is set to go down next Wednesday, July 22, on the Verzuz Instagram, as well as Apple Music in HD quality. An official start time hasn't been announced.
