Just in time for the holiday season, DJ Khaled announced on Wednesday that he has the honor of hosting Lil Wayne's third entry in the 'No Ceilings' saga, which could arrive as soon as this Friday, Nov. 27.
Khaled teased the tape with a couple of fire-sounding snippets, including a Drake collab where the Young Money prodigy can be heard gliding over lo-fi drums and dropping simple yet loaded punchlines like "I don't eat red meat but still got beef sizzlin'."
In another clip, Khaled cues Weezy going crazy over the minimalist, hard-hitting beat behind Lil Baby and 42 Dugg's "We Paid." Below that is the most striking of the three possible cover art options for the surprise tape. It didn't take long for "No Ceilings 3" to start trending on Twitter.
The timing would make sense, as this Thanksgiving marks the 5-year anniversary of Wayne's 24-track 'No Ceilings' sequel that featured notable remixes of Drizzy's "Back To Back," Bryson Tiller's "Don't," 2 Milly's "Milly Rock" and much more.
It's been a minute since Drake and his mentor have hopped on the same record. But the former vowed to send his friend "at least two joints" while chopping it up on Wayne's Young Money Radio. "The world want to know, Mack want to know, my mama want to know: When is we going to give the people another joint, man? Me and you. Come on now," Weezy said.
You may recall that the OG 'No Ceilings' hit streaming services earlier this year, albeit missing several key songs due to clearance issues. Keeping in line with the culture's mixtape roots, DatPiff will once again debut this upcoming project.
Other cherished underground releases like the 'Dedication' franchise could one day be available on streaming, too. Wayne's manager Cortez Bryant is working on making it happen.
