DJ Critical Hype made hip-hop headlines earlier this year via In Search Of... Cole, a mashup mixtape that placed J. Cole's bars over production from Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo aka The Neptunes.
Now, he's returning with another intriguing lyrics-beats combo in the form of ANDRE, a 34-track project that blends André 3000's vocals with Tyler, The Creator's one of a kind instrumentals.
Speaking with Complex, the Canadian DJ revealed that Tyler himself has been looking forward to the tape's release for many months.
He even sent Critical Hype the original instrumentals for "WHAT’S GOOD" and "A BOY IS A GUN*" and at one point slid in his DMs to ask, "Dude where the f**k is the andre igor?"
"It's so dope that he reached out to a DJ and showed love, DJs don't get the love we deserve nowadays," he said. "Still blows my mind that I've been talking to him. I know he's probably busy as f**k so I really appreciate how helpful he's been."
If the musical support wasn't enough, Tyler also helped him with the marketing by retweeting the announcement.
