With real-life concerts being canceled for the foreseeable future, artists and their fans are turning to alternative platforms to connect for social distance-friendly performances.
Over the weekend, several leaks surfaced suggesting that Fortnite is planning to turn its virtual world into an Astroworld of sorts for a Travis Scott concert.
Back in February and March, GameRant reported that data miners turned up details related to a Scott cosmetic set and animated skin, complete with a pair of shoes resembling the Houston rapper's edition of Jordan 1s.
Gamers have now stumbled upon several more cryptic hints pointing to an in-game experience hosted by La Flame.
There's a file with an event codenamed "Jerky," which was the same name used to denote the inaugural Feb. 2019 Marshmello in-game concert. Possibly the most obvious sign, though, is the concert stage being constructed on an island near Sweaty Sands.
Players have also noticed posters plastered around the Fortnite map likely promoting Scott's "Astroworld" concert. Once decrypted, they show a music symbol in the center of a larger circle and an illustration of a planet sitting above.
Another one of the most telling clues is a new trippy purplish formation floating in the sky. After being broken down by a few leakers, the glowing mass appears to have features similar to an amusement park, i.e., Astroworld.
Additionally, lo-fi chords like those heard on "HIGHEST IN THE ROOM" are radiating off the orb.
Last but not least, a low-key nod may have been included in Scott's most recent video for his JACKBOYS song "OUT WEST" featuring Young Thug. At the beginning of the visual, Scott can be seen chilling out and playing video games.
Stay tuned to Daquan for the latest updates on this collaboration.
