Dr Disrespect has been mysteriously ousted by Twitch. 👀

As people eased into the weekend on Friday afternoon, news bubbled online that popular streamer Guy "Dr Disrespect" Beahm and his profile with more than 4.4 million followers were suddenly removed from the Twitch platform.

ESPN eventually confirmed the rumors, but the only context that was given by Amazon's Twitch about his ban was that he "acted in violation of our community guidelines or terms of service."

One of the leading theories involved Twitch's recent promise to crack down on inappropriate behavior within its community after over 200 allegations of sexual abuse, misogyny, hate speech and other misconduct were made against various industry figures, some connected to the platform.

Hundreds of streamers participated in the #TwitchBlackout last week, and Twitch co-founder and CEO Emmett Shear wrote in a statement that disciplinary measures against users "may include banning, removing partnership, or removing people from promotional opportunities and activations."

Though it's unclear whether Disrespect was booted as a result of this intensified effort, the 38-year-old has previously been suspended from the site for repeatedly streaming from a men's bathroom at the 2019 E3 event.

He was also shamed for depicting racist caricatures of Chinese accents and language on stream in early 2018.

Rod “Slasher” Breslau, an esports insider, tweeted on Saturday that he had gained additional details on Disrespect's ban from legit sources, but didn't want to disclose them "due to the importance and sensitivity around the subject."

Making this situation all the more bizarre is that Disrespect signed an exclusive, multi-year streaming deal with Twitch in March reportedly worth several million dollars.

During the final seconds of his last stream, a clip shows Disrespect clearly flustered by something behind the scenes. "We'll get through this," he says, before dropping an F-bomb and signing off.

Only time will tell what really went down.
