For fans of the Assassin's Creed series, the upcoming Valhalla installment will place you in the Viking age where you'll fight alongside barbarian brethren as a strong-willed warrior named Eivor.
Ubisoft released the official cinematic trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla on Thursday. Based in the ninth century, the epic 4-minute clip shows Eivor rising as the leader of his Viking clan as they venture away from their homeland of Norway to conquer land in England.
Eivor is portrayed as a passionate yet reasonable warrior who greatly cherishes his Viking brotherhood. In one scene, he prevents one of his peers from slaying an innocent woman and her child. In another, he lays down his mentor in the middle of a gruesome battle.
Players will be able to choose the gender of Eivor, similar to what was offered in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, the most recent edition of the game. You'll also be able to customize your character’s hair, tattoos, and war paint.
Building off the RPG style that was first adopted for Origins and further developed in Odyssey, Valhalla will allow players to obtain new skills and gear, as well as shape their own Viking settlement with soldiers and upgradable structures.
Combat will be inspired by brutal Viking fighting styles and players can dual-wield axes, swords, or even shields. If you're not in the mood to fight, there's hunting, fishing, dice, drinking, and flyting, which is basically a Viking rap battle. 🔥
Valhalla will be playable across a total of six different platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, and Google Stadia, as well as next-generation consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Five different editions of the game are available for pre-order ahead of the official release this holiday season. Let's go!
