Wrestling fans itching to relive the glory days of Stone Cold Steve Austin are in for a cinematic treat.
It's likely that the producers responsible for ESPN and Netflix's wildly popular docuseries 'The Last Dance' about Michael Jordan and the six-ring dynasty Chicago Bulls are crafting something similar focused on the legendary WWE wrestler.
Ringside commentator Lilian Garcia spilled the tea on the upcoming project during an interview with Chris Van Vliet, as she told him how producer Jake Rogal let her know that a podcast interview she conducted with Stone Cold circa July 2018 where they discussed his extreme shyness as a kid sparked the idea for the documentary.
"WWE reached out to me first. They were like, 'Somebody from 'The Last Dance' is going to reach out to you, they want you involved in [a] documentary,'" she recalled. "I was like, 'Wait, what?' So I end up getting reached out by them and it was funny because my husband and I were currently watching the documentary as this message was happening. So when Jake reached out to me I'm like, 'Jake, I'm literally watching your documentary right now. This is amazing.'
"Come to find out they want to do a documentary for Stone Cold Steve Austin and it's coming out next year. And he gave me the biggest compliment, he said, 'Your interview with Steve that you did on Chasing Glory was what made us realize that we wanted to do a different documentary,' because he's had a few already."
Additional details surrounding the director, distributor, exact timing, and more are a mystery. Stay tuned.
