Sony is inviting those eager to get their hands on the PlayStation 5 to sign up for its online pre-order registration. But there's a catch.
With only a "limited quantity of PS5 consoles available for pre-order," not everyone who registers will receive a link to actually pre-order the console, which is reportedly scheduled for release this holiday season.
Once PlayStation users enter their gamer ID in the portal, Sony will identify who to email reservations to based on a first-come-first-serve order as well as "previous interests and PlayStation activities," per the FAQ page. It's unclear when the next steps for pre-ordering will be sent.
Even if you are selected for a pre-order pass, you'll have to move fast, as each invite comes with a time deadline and limited PS5s to pick from. Just one console will be offered per PSN ID, as well as two DualSense controllers and other optional accessories.
Of course, the biggest omission from this announcement is the price and a specific release date.
