Pairs of Nike and Ben & Jerry's "Chunky Dunky" SB Dunk Low were wiped out as quickly as a fresh pint of Half Baked. 😭
As Tuesday arrived, many sneakerheads eagerly awaited the limited release of the vibrant "Chunky Dunky" via the SNKRS app. Officially announced nearly two weeks ago, the one of a kind collab pulled inspiration from the Vermont-based ice cream company's signature pint packaging.
Though heads were somewhat split on their feelings about the kicks, countless prospects still lined up on SNKRS with the hope that they would be blessed by the sneaker gods with two fabled words: "Got 'em."
Yet, in the blink of an eye, the drop came and went, leaving many users starry-eyed and sad once again. Not long after, Twitter was filled with those who took an L airing out their frustrations with Nike's SNKRS app, which is notorious for seemingly never coming through on coveted drops.
Some commenters even questioned their loyalty to Ben & Jerry's altogether.
One of the biggest factors that contributed to this online uproar is the huge discrepancy between retail and resale prices of the "Chunky Dunky."
As of publishing time for this article, there was a nearly 1800% mark-up on StockX for Size 10s. Retail price across sizes was $100.
If you want to get your hands on the special F&F packaging that looks like a pint of ice cream, the asking price is even steeper: over $4,500.
For those who are interested in a different kind of limited Ben & Jerry's release, they recently shared plans for a new "Boots On The Moooo'n" flavor inspired by the upcoming Space Force Netflix series starring Steve Carrell.
"SNKRS" quickly became a top trending topic on Tuesday as once-hopeful buyers shared their disappointment in being snuffed.
