It appears 2021 is already coming through with unexpected treats, 'cause McDonald's just announced that it's adding three new chicken sandwiches to its menu next month.

Mmm: The lineup includes a Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Spicy Chicken Sandwich and Deluxe Chicken Sandwich. While fried chicken isn't novel grub from the fast-food giant, the three sandwiches will reportedly test a new fillet of all-white meat chicken and a new breading recipe.

Plus, Feb. 24 will bring a toasted, buttery potato roll hugging the meat for the first time.

"We’ve heard our customers loud and clear, and we know they’re craving more chicken options," Mickie D's VP of Innovation Linda VanGosen claimed. "We’re confident all chicken fans – from traditionalists to spice enthusiasts – will discover a new menu favorite they’ll come back for time and time again."

Heating up: With this triple entry, McDonald's officially throws its hat in the competitive chicken sandwich ring owned by Popeyes, Wendy's and Chick-fil-A. (None of these chains have published a witty tweet throwing shade at the Golden Arches yet, though you can bet that's coming soon.)

If we're talking saucy BBQ pork, though, it's all about the McRib, which has been available nationwide for the past month for the first time in about eight years.

Who knows, maybe McDonald's next celebrity partnership, i.e., Travis Scott and J Balvin, will kick off with a "cock-a-doodle-doo!"
