This story has Red Table Talk written all over it. 👀
A clip of a new interview between singer August Alsina and host Angela Yee has recently been making the rounds on social media due to his bold claim that Will Smith once gave him his "blessing" to be in a romantic relationship with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
He references how the Smiths' nearly 23-year marriage has evolved into more of a "life partnership" that doesn't involve romance and goes on to say that if he were to suddenly die, he would be content with his life "knowing that I truly gave myself" to Jada.
"I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership that they've spoken on several times and it not involving romanticism," Alsina said. "He gave me his blessing and I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life. And I truly and really, really deeply loved and have a ton of love for her."
Alsina has some merit. Talks around the couple having an open relationship have swirled for years, highlighted by Will's confession in a 2015 interview with The Daily Mail that he has sought permission from his wife to "have sex with somebody" else.
"If it came down to it, then one can say to the other, 'Look, I need to have sex with somebody," he claimed. "I'm not going to if you don't approve of it – but please approve of it.'"
There was also a clip from Red Table Talk that resurfaced in which Jada discusses how the two will always be "under the same roof," even if they're with another person.
Back in March 2019, Alsina hinted at his possible relationship with Pinkett Smith on the single "Nunya." In the video, he's texting back and forth with someone named Koren, which is her middle name.
Alsina also recently dropped a new album, The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy, with features from Lil Wayne and Yo Gotti.
