We all have our favorite actors and actresses, but sometimes, it's pretty clear which are absolute masters of their crafts and which aren't. Critics from sources like IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes revealed who they think are some of the least favored actors and actresses in Hollywood today.
Tommy Wiseau
Tommy Wiseau caused quite a buzz in Hollywood after he released the 2003 film The Room. The star wrote, produced, and acted in the production, which ultimately snagged him the #1 spot on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List.
The movie scored 3.7/10 on IMDb and one Rotten Tomatoes user, Felix Vasquez Jr., described the film as "A movie so bad, so inept, so unbelievably painful, it's almost impossible to comprehend anyone thought it would be great on-screen." Not the rave review he was hoping for…
Jennifer Love Hewitt
Jennifer Love Hewitt currently sits at a comfortable #66 on IMDb's list of Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses and holds an accolade for not making a single "fresh" film scoring more than 60%, according to critics. She has been part of so many low-rated films that she has an average Rotten Tomatoes rating of only 18.9%!
Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (7%) and 2005's The Truth About Love (0%) are just some of the films that lent a helping hand to this score, but it's her role as Julie James in the 1997 film I Know What You Did Last Summer that was dubbed her worst role to date, despite its 43% score – boosted by "Diehard fans of the genre."
Chuck Norris
While he may be regarded as the martial-arts mogul in Hollywood, Slate and Rotten Tomatoes voted Chuck Norris as one of The Worst Rated Actors – a score many critics believe is a result of the Walker, Texas Ranger star's lack of flow when it comes to his body and voice acting skills.
The actor holds an average Rotten Tomatoes rating of just 18.4%, which could be why Norris ended up at #36 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List. "Norris again fails to find a niche for his limited talent," one critic wrote. However, Norris has a massive cult following and remains a popular actor even today.
Ruby Rose
While she showcased her no-nonsense attitude in films like John Wick: Chapter 2 and television series like Orange Is the New Black and Batwoman, critics were unimpressed with her performances. But what exactly was the reasoning behind the poor feedback?
In 2019, she landed the part as Batwoman, which she called her "dream role," but left the show after just one season. Although Rotten Tomatoes rated the series 84%, audiences scored Batwoman just 16%, with one fan criticizing Ruby's acting as "Just Bad. Really. Just spare the time and watch something else."
Jamie Kennedy
Jamie currently sits at #2 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List thanks to his role in Son of the Mask - a performance that scored just 6% on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans were puzzled as to why the production was carried out in the first place. Critics said it was "Terrible, awful, extremely bad, and horrible."
Fans went on to suggest the star "stop experimenting with bad movie scripts." Kennedy has said before that he believes "anybody can be a good actor." But his fans begged to differ. To make matters even more interesting, his next movie is titled Don't Suck. We're sure he got the hint.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Acting skills may not be genetic: despite being the daughter of production legend Bruce Paltrow and award-winning actress Blythe Danner, Goopy Gwyneth Paltrow snagged some low ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. In fact, Mortdecai rated a measly 12% on the site.
Despite being the proud owner of an Oscar, Paltrow's performance in View From the Top got some major backlash from Rotten Tomatoes critics. One of them wrote, "Miss Paltrow? We're gonna need that Oscar back." Common Sense Media's Nell Minow further added, "What was Gwyneth Paltrow thinking?"
Owen Wilson
While comedian Owen Wilson has many fans, some have criticized the actor for a few of his parts. While he's acted in both comedies and dramas, critics from Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb believe that his silliness shines through in every performance, so when he plays a more 'serious' part, it's just not believable.
Critics revealed that his popular features in The Royal Tenenbaums, Wedding Crashers, Hall Pass, and Meet the Fockers all required him to play the same character, which made it difficult for viewers to see him any other way. And though many appreciated that about the actor, IMDb named Wilson one of their worst actors ever. Yikes!
Madonna
While Madonna is the queen of pop, she may have been better off sticking to that - specifically when it came to acting. In fact, Chicago Sun Times' Robert Ebert went as far as warning viewers not to see the film Body of Evidence. He boldly declared it as one of his "Most hated movies of all time."
But it was her role in Evita that landed her at number 35 on IMDb's list of Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses. Critic Tim Brayton said Madonna's performance was "wholly artificial and forced," and while scoring 63% on Rotten Tomatoes and 6.3/10 on IMDb, critics believed that the film would've done better without her.
David Hasselhoff
While he was the ultimate heartthrob running around the beach in red shorts during his stint on Baywatch, his performance in the film landed him at #49 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List. Critics didn't connect with the reinvention of the franchise, and the film was rated just 5.3/10 by IMDb.
IMDb user Kyrycek19 said, "David Hasselhoff [was] repulsive, a lousy actor and an even worse singer," on the platform, and critics on Rotten Tomatoes were even less kind, scoring the film just 18%. It seems, however, that audiences were much kinder, rating the film 69%.
Bo Derek
She's the star of the 1984 film Bolero, but it was that performance that saw her nab a spot on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List at #37. Interestingly, while her performance does have many positive reviews, she also received some negative criticism that helped get her a spot on this list.
"Bo Derek is a total airhead that can't even act" was just one of the comments. Another added that while Bo was nominated for a number of awards for her role in the film, she landed up walking away the Worst Actress Golden Raspberry Award. Keep scrolling for more of Hollywood's least favored.
Jaden Smith
Sometimes, the apple really does fall far from the tree – and critics believe this is undoubtedly the case when it comes to Jaden Smith and his acting. The son of Oscar winner Will Smith made his acting debut in the Pursuit of Happiness, which was positively received, but many claimed the actor hasn't had a good film since.
Rotten Tomatoes rated the actor's film After Earth 11%, and many critics wondered if he would be able to return to the big screen ever again. Critic Richard Propes of theindependentcritic.com gave the movie a score of 0.5/4, saying, "The memory of After Earth is so painful that I still feel like my eyes are burning." Ouch…
Brigitte Nielen
Brigitte may be a triple threat, with success in both the modeling and singing world, but her third talent, acting, is up for debate. Nielen sits at #38 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List. Despite playing the role of a warrior in Red Sonja, one critic said, "[No one] ever liked admitting they enjoyed a movie with Brigitte."
While the film has a cult fanbase, according to Rotten Tomatoes, the movie itself was described as dull with an unfortunate cast. Many critics believed that Brigitte's performance in the film lacked the "uumph" that these action films are expected to have.
Shaquille O'Neal
Give him a basketball, and you won't be disappointed, but many critics believe that his acting skills just don't match up to what he can do on the courts. One critic wrote, "Shaquille O'Neil should be legally barred from acting" after watching his performance in 1997's Steel.
The film is mostly to blame for his #24 spot on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List after it scored an embarrassing 2.9/10 review on the site. Despite starring in over 19 films to date, critics say the star still hasn't the breakthrough role he was hoping for.
Megan Fox
While the Transformers franchise went on to be a global phenomenon, Megan Fox's role in the 2007 film landed her at #47 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List. The movie scored a decent average of 58% on the Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes, along with an 85% by the audience, but Megan herself didn't get much praise.
Nielad, an IMDb user, said, "Megan Fox, who, besides the horrible acting, loses points for actually saying, 'Sam, whatever happens, I'm glad I got in the car with you,'" adding that the line is a "homage to every poorly delivered, cheese ball romance line in the history of cinema." Danggg!
Rob Schneider
Rob Schneider's role in Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo made him a household name when the film was released in 1999, but critics found his acting in the sequel Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo so bad that the actor made IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List at #5 as a result.
The film was given a 4.7/10 score by IMDb and just 9% on Rotten Tomatoes, with Peter Debruge from the Miami Herald scoring Rob's acting a 0/4. He said Rob's "Shtick still amounts to little more than shameless self-depreciation." Paul Arendt from BBC chimed in, describing his role as "Moronic and repulsive."
Paris Hilton
While Paris Hilton has a reputation for all things pink and glam, the truth is she is a hardworking businesswoman, reality TV star, and DJ. However, according to critics, acting is not one of her strong points. Paris starred in the box office flop The Hottie & The Nottie, which scored just 1.9/10 on IMDb.
Her performance helped her rank at #7 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List, with critics calling Hilton's acting "Zombie-like" and dense. Many IMDb user reviews scored the film 1/10, and, looking back, many fans were disappointed after all the fuss leading up to the film.
Tom Green
Drew Barrymore's former husband, producer, and actor Tom Green made a name for himself in the comedy Freddy Got Fingered back in 2001. While the film was a hit with viewers, critics weren't impressed at all. In fact, Danny Graydon from BBC rated the movie 1/5 and called it "Embarrassing, offensive, and resoundingly pointless."
Meanwhile, Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a score of only 10%, while Marc Savlov from the Austin Chronicle also gave it a shocking 0/5 review. The critic said Green's performance was "Witless, dull, and oh-so-predictably offensive," which is probably not what you want to hear when reading a review of your acting.
Kaley Cuoco
The Big Bang Theory actress has certainly come a long way in her acting career. The star was nominated for her portrayal as Penny in the sitcom at various award shows around the world and scored an Emmy nod for her performance in The Flight Attendant, but her earlier roles weren't met with as much praise.
One IMDb critic called her role of Penny as "The stereotypical s*x driven blonde," while many of her other characters felt one dimensional to critics who said that they wished she'd put in a little bit more effort when it came to her acting.
Chris Tucker
It's hard to believe that Tucker, who was once the highest-paid actor in Hollywood, is now sitting at #16 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List – particularly for his part in Rush Hour 2. Despite the movie being rated a solid 6.6/10 on IMDb, many critics said they expected more for Tucker.
According to reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, many viewers thought that Tucker's mid-movie comedy skits and mindless improv only confused them. In fact, Chicago Sun-Times critic Roger Ebert argued, "How can a movie allow [Tucker] to be so obnoxious and make no acknowledgment that his behavior is aberrant?"
Tanya Roberts
While Tanya holds the accolade of being a Bond girl, it was her performance in 1985's A View to a Kill that landed her a #54 spot on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List. Spectravideo further argued that Tanya's weak performance "brings the experience down quite a bit."
The movie is certainly not Tanya's best work, with a score of just 37% on Rotten Tomatoes, but the actress continued to push herself and seemed to redeem herself. The Charlie's Angels' star went on to play Midge Pinciotti on That '70s Show before retiring from acting in 2005.
Ashton Kutcher
The star of the popular sitcom That '70s Show was labeled a "Complete imbecile" by one IMDb user for his role as Michael Kelso. While the role catapulted him into international stardom, it also landed him at #15 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List, with many critics feeling like the character didn't evolve over time.
Viewers felt that Ashton failed to grow out of his immature acting routine and left many wanting to see that moment he grew up. Nevertheless, Rotten Tomatoes users described the actor's early roles as playing a "Dimwitted hunk" – Not the best compliment, but we'll take it.
Mandy Moore
Critics believe that Mandy Moore's performance as Jenny in 2005's Cursed was one of her worst acting moments. Due to her not being up to speed with production. In fact, her performance was said to be so terrible that her scenes were ultimately deleted and later reshot – with Mya Harrison taking over the role.
Newark Star-Ledger's top Rotten Tomatoes critic, Stephen Whitty, said that "Moore was a spirited off-screen presence in Tangled, but her charms as an actress are strained here." He added that her embarrassing performance in Cursed was "Additional weight" to other films she failed to deliver quality performances in.
Charlie Sheen
Sure, he may be one of the biggest (and highly paid) TV stars thanks to his role in the sitcom Two and a Half Men, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Charlie Sheen was well received. This is according to critics who believe that the show packed a punch after Sheen was replaced due to his habits off and on set, according to IMDb.
Today, Charlie sits at #34 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List. Roger Ebert, Pulitzer Prize holder for Criticism, said that Charlie's performance in the series was "Ludicrous." Well, we didn't see that one coming, but that didn't compare to our next bad actor...
Heather Locklear
It seems that while many fans fell in love with Heather Locklear thanks to her role in Melrose Place, critics believed her performance was average, ultimately placing her at #62 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List. And although the show got some good feedback, it had little to do with Heather.
The feedback was harsh. "She is quite a b****" was just one of the comments fired towards her character. While the opinions on this one seem pretty divided among fans- it seems like critics have made up their minds. Better luck next time!
Freddie Prinze Jr.
He was the ultimate heartthrob in his heyday thanks to his role in films like She's All That and Scooby Doo, but it seems his role in the former left critics with a lot more to be desired. IMDb critics called the actor one of the most frustrating to watch – which landed him at #39 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List.
Critics blamed the She's All That storyline for tainting his career, revealing that a movie where a popular guy makes a bet that he can turn the unpopular into popular is in bad taste. Rotten Tomatoes rated the film 40%, describing it as not consistently funny. And it only got worse, but we'll save you from the shade.
Hilary Duff
These days, she's returned to her former glory thanks to her comeback role in the popular series Younger and will star as the lead in the upcoming How I Met Your Father spin-off, but Hilary's role as Sam in A Cinderella Story ranked her at #68 on IMDb's List of Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses.
Rotten Tomatoes rated the film just 12%, with Pulitzer Prize holder for Criticism, Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times, calling the film "A terrible movie, sappy and dead in the water." While the film was a hit with teenagers, critics are in agreement that this role wasn't the Lizzie McGuire star's most memorable job.
David Spade
The Emperor's New Groove is one of David Spade's highest-rated movies on Rotten Tomatoes, with many in agreement that the star is a solid voice actor. The film scored an impressive 85% on the platform, but many critics believed that Spade's performance spoiled the animation.
A Rotten Tomatoes critic believed that David Spade's acting skills revolved around jokes "Simply not landing." Even as the hilarious Kuzco, the Emperor, Spade didn't deliver, which could be a reason why he was switched out in the films that followed.
Charlene Tilton
Charlene Tilton's Superhero Movie wasn't particularly enjoyed by Rotten Tomatoes critics. The platform rated the film a low 17% and left many critics unimpressed by the flick's overused gags and references from pop culture that was just no longer relevant.
It's her role in this film that placed Tilton high on IMDb's List of Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses at #11. Critics claimed the star's melodramatic performance was tough to watch and that the jokes just weren't funny, leaving viewers watching this production with a bitter taste.
Ben Affleck
Ben Affleck has certainly cemented himself as a Hollywood A-Lister. His producing and writing credits have solidified this accolade, but when it comes to his acting, IMDb critics believe that Ben's performances don't pack enough of a punch.
Critics continue to ask Ben to give more to his big-screen performances, with some Rotten Tomatoes critics feeling like Affleck lacks that 'living and breathing your character' factor. Others add that his personality as Ben Affleck is dominant in most of his roles, making his characters a little less believable.
Drew Barrymore
She started her acting career at a very young age, but Drew Barrymore has left IMDb critics disappointed thanks to lackluster performances in her later work. In fact, her role as Josie Geller in the 1999 flick Never Been Kissed landed her at #19 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List.
While some praised her unique portrayal of the main character in the movie, others felt her acting was unrelatable. "I don't think I can think of one authentic human moment in the whole movie," one critic commented. However, despite this, Barrymore went on to become one of the most popular actresses of our time and now hosts her very own talk show.
Scott ‘Carrot Top’ Thompson
After making his debut in Hollywood in the early 1990s, Scott Thompson cemented his public persona as Carrot Top. Despite appearing in over 30 projects throughout his career, many believe that the 56-year-old actor never truly made the impact he had hoped with his acting.
His 1998 comedy Chairman of the Board scored a disappointing 2.3 out of 10 amongst IMDb users, which could be a big reason why the actor didn't land many more leading roles after that. Despite landing up at #12 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List, Thompson still gets the odd guest appearance even today.
Josh Hartnett
Ever since he was a little boy, the 43-year-old actor had dreams of being a big-shot Hollywood actor and, to date, Josh Hartnett has landed roles in films like Pearl Harbor, Sin City, and Hollywood Homicide. However, viewers haven't connected with him as an actor.
According to IMDb, Hartnett ranks #13 among the worst actors and actresses in Hollywood – and the critics at Rotten Tomatoes seemed to agree. In fact, describing Hartnett's performance in The Lovers, one user claimed, "This stinks worse than an oyster's fart." Ouch…
Roseanne Barr
While Roseanne Barr's star has certainly dimmed over the years, during the 1980s and 1990s, the actress had such star power that she even landed an entire sitcom named after herself: Roseanne. The show ran for 231 episodes, and the actress showcased her creativity as both executive producer and creator on the show.
However, despite the show returning back in 2017, it was soon pulled from the schedules, mostly because of the actress' public opinion. And despite the show's global success, the 68-year-old comedian currently sits in IMDb's top 15 worst actors and actresses.
Alicia Silverstone
While the ever-so-quotable Clueless remains one of the most iconic comedies of all time, the reality is, the film remained more popular in pop culture than the 45-year-old actress did. While her popularity may have tanked, Silverstone is still involved in projects today.
However, critics haven't always enjoyed her performances on screen. While she stunned in her Batgirl suit in the 1997 film Batman & Robin, critics felt the film didn't live up to expectations, scoring a below-average 3.8 rating on IMDb. That's partly why Silverstone sits at #22 on the website's list of the worst actors and actresses in Hollywood.
Rosie O’Donnell
Roseanne Barr wasn't the only actress to lead a sitcom named after herself - Rosie O'Donnell did it too! The comedian starred in The Rosie O'Donnell Show between 1996 to 2002. It proved to be a hit with fans and critics alike, winning her a slew of Daytime Emmy Awards during its run.
However, other projects, like All Aboard! Rosie's Family Cruise failed to have the same impact as the popular TV show. One Rotten Tomatoes critic said that the film was a complete waste of time. "[It] tells you precisely what it's about in the first five minutes and then tells you the same thing for the next 85 minutes over and over again," they claimed.
Steven Seagal
While he was the ultimate cool guy during the 1980s and 1990s, which saw him build an empire thanks to his action films and epic stunts and fight scenes, Steven Seagal never really struck a chord with critics watching the films.
Describing his 1994 film On Deadly Ground, one Rotten Tomatoes user said, "Unfortunately, Segal...is no match for Caine. His on-screen personality is petulant and humorless, his voice so grating you want to reach for a mute button." IMDb agreed that Seagal never brought anything more than action to his roles, ranking him as one of Hollywood's worst actors.
Larry Miller
While it's true that Larry Miller played a pivotal role as a supporting actor in some of our favorite comedies like 10 Things I Hate About You, Princess Diaries, and Dilbert, the 68-year-old struggled to land a leading role of his own – something critics believe is a direct result of his substandard acting.
Critics believe that being typecast held him back and didn't allow the actor to flex his acting skills. One Rotten Tomatoes user recalled Miller's performance in the 2012 comedy General Education "a strained collection of outtakes from other comedies." As a result of his predictable performances, IMDb ranked him in the top 30 worst actors in Hollywood.
Pamela Anderson
Pamela Anderson's role as Lisa on Home Improvement catapulted her into a small-screen star. She then made the red swimsuit famous around the world thanks to her role as C. J. Parker on the hit TV series Baywatch. However, while she scored home runs on the television, her big-screen projects failed to impress critics.
Her 1994 film Raw scored just 4.1 on IMDb. Two years later, the star tried her hand at the big screen again in Barb Wire, which didn't rate well on Rotten Tomatoes, either. Pamela was described as a "bad heroine [with] bad acting," a reason she made IMDb's infamous list.
Elvis Presley
He's known as one of the greatest musicians that ever lived, being a Grammy Award-winning singer and Hall of Fame inductee. But Elvis Presley's acting skills failed to pack a punch, according to critics who put together IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses list.
The famous rock and roll superstar starred in over a dozen films, but fans weren't impressed at his big-screen efforts. In fact, his 1965 comedy musical Harum Scarum scored just 4.7 out of 10 on IMDb. Luckily, he'll go down in history for his game-changing approach to music and not his big-screen flops.
Hulk Hogan
He is one of the biggest wrestlers in WWE history, and, as many wrestlers ended up doing, Hulk Hogan made the transition from wrestler to movie star. However, while he went on to act in a number of films, none catapulted him to becoming the A-Lister he hoped to be.
As expected, Hulk was type-casted, which IMDb critics had a big problem with. The star's 1996 family comedy Santa with Muscles scored just 2.6 out of 10 on the site. Hulk's performance in that film, amongst others like Mr. Nanny and Thunder In Paradise, earned him the number one spot on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses list.
Taylor Lautner
While his role as werewolf Jacob in the Twilight franchise turned him into a global heartthrob, critics weren't too impressed with the way he portrayed the character – or his performance in films that followed. Critics were vocal about the star's lack of personality on stage which helped him land at #6 on IMDb's The 100 Worst Actors and Actresses Ever list.
Lautner's latest film, Run the Tide, received a 9% on Rotten Tomatoes – and critics had a field day with the star's disappointing performance. "Both the film and its star, Taylor Lautner, are more scenic than dramatic," said critic Roger Moore. Another added that the drama didn't "connect emotionally or spiritually."
Katherine Heigl
Another actress who has the displeasure of finding herself on IMDb's 100 Worst Actors and Actresses Ever list is Grey's Anatomy and Suits star Katherine Heigl. The star quit the popular medical drama to pursue her dreams of being a big-screen actress, but a string of poor film choices had critics doubting her move.
The starlet then made a move back to TV, starring in the drama Firefly Lane. The dramedy was certified "rotten," with one reviewer saying, "casting could have been better." Here's hoping that her new role in Woodhull, which she also serves as executive producer, changes things.
Katie Holmes
She's been dubbed America's Sweetheart, and while movie fanatics seem to have a soft spot for the actress, critics seem to feel that her performances are subpar. In fact, one Rotten Tomatoes critic said, "Does Dawson's Creek deserve all the hoopla? Nah. It's... an oversimplified, teeny-bopper version of... soap operas," of the actress's breakout role.
Since then, Holmes nabbed a spot on IMDb's 100 Worst Actors and Actresses Ever list, and her latest role in Dare To Dream was deemed a flop by critics. Rotten Tomatoes reviewer Joe Friar said the film was "predictable" and a film "you'll either fall in love with... or hurl".
Julianne Hough
She's a beast on the dancefloor, an impressive singer and an actress, and while some see her as a triple threat, others aren't too convinced. In fact, Julianne Hough earned a spot on IMDb's 100 Worst Actors and Actresses Ever for her role in Safe Haven after failing to wow critics.
Hough's latest project Bigger also failed to make an impression on moviegoers and critics. Rotten Tomatoes reviewer Michael Rechtshaffen slammed Hough and her co-stars for their roles in the film saying, "the performances prove to be as unconvincing as their ethnic accents and period wigs."
Zac Efron
He stole the hearts of teenage girls and boys around the world as Troy Bolton in Disney's High School Musical and went on to become an A-list actor starring in films like Hairspray, Baywatch, and The Greatest Showman, but critics still aren't convinced.
Some believe that despite his good looks and charm, Zac fails to bring forward convincing performances and leaves viewers wanting more. This scored him a spot on IMDb's 100 Worst Actors and Actresses Ever list, with critic Roger Moore saying the actor "is on his way out the door."
Addison Rae
She may be a global phenomenon thanks to her millions of followers on TikTok, but while the star can certainly bust a move on the app, critics aren't impressed – despite the star landing a series of her very own Netflix deals and launching a singing career.
Addison made her acting debut in Netflix's 2021 comedy He's All That, a retelling of the popular 90s film She's All That, but her performance was met with harsh criticism. With a "rotten" rating on Rotten Tomatoes, critic Jordan Julian says, "anyone can be an actor now, regardless of one's (lack of) qualifications or talent for the craft."
Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez is the ultimate triple threat. She's a multi-platinum selling singer, a dancer, a reality TV judge, and the queen of romantic comedies. But while her career is flying high, the truth is critics have rarely been impressed with her acting skills.
Rotten Tomatoes critic Mike McGranaghan says that while the star has never wowed on the big screen, her performance in The Boy Next Door was "the final nail into her film career's coffin," landing her a spot on IMDb's 100 Worst Actors and Actresses Ever List. Could this change when she releases Marry Me, her upcoming rom-com with Owen Wilson?
Luke Wilson
The Wilson family remains one of the most talented families in Hollywood, and the youngest, Luke, has cemented himself as a movie star in his own right. However, IMDb doesn't seem too impressed, as their "Worst Actors in My Opinion" list names the actor as the fifth-worst in Hollywood.
"Maybe he would be better if he wasn't always impersonating his brother. (but probably not)," one critic said. Interestingly, Owen Wilson also found himself on this list, but the two still have massive star power and it seems they won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
Paul Rudd
While he was just named People Magazine's sexiest man in the world and seems to have found exactly where the fountain of youth has been hidden, the reality is, Paul Rudd's career isn't rated that highly by critics. Not only have his films been torn apart by reviewers over the years, but he sits at #26 on IMDb's Worst Actors Ever Seen list.
"If Mr. Rudd had only done a couple of movies with a couple of cameos, he would be alright in my book," one IMDb critic commented on the Ant Man actor. "But the man is cast as lead and always plays the same character: a whiny, awkward burnt-out hipster."
Wentworth Miller
When Wentworth Miller scored his role as Michael Scofield in the popular prison drama Prison Break, his life turned upside down. The actor became a massive star around the world, and while the series went on to become what many call one of the best series ever made, Miller's acting skills have been questioned.
"The lead role acting is horrible. This character would be more believable if it didn't look like a teenager fresh of middle school," one IMDb critic explained when taking a deeper look at Miller's acting in the series. Another added, "he couldn't act his way out of a paper bag."
Justin Timberlake
When it comes to being a pop star, Justin Timberlake hits the nail on the head. However, his passion for acting doesn't seem to yield the same results, according to critics. "Justin Timberlake can not carry a movie on his own, and this one sinks under his efforts," Rotten Tomatoes critic Jackie K. Cooper said while criticizing JT's role in Runner, Runner.
Rotten Tomatoes critic Harvey S. Karten adds that JT's lack of personality hinders the parts he takes on. "Justin Timberlake lacks the charisma," he explains. However, the Friends With Benefits star has come a long way since his time on Mickey Mouse Club.
Nick Jonas
Nick Jonas burst onto the global entertainment scene as a young child and went on to become both a platinum-selling musician and a TV star. However, that doesn't mean that the Jonas Brother always got it right. In fact, his role in the film Careful What You Wish For scored just 17% on Rotten Tomatoes.
In fact, some critics believe that the star should rather focus his efforts on his musical career and leave those acting gigs behind. "Jonas is incapable of making simple facial expressions, let alone evincing existential dread," IMDb critic Chris Packham griped on the site.
Eddie Murphy
From SNL to Shrek, The Nutty Professor, and everything in between, Eddie Murphy has had an incredibly successful acting career. However, critics can't help but feel that the star has been on a decline thanks to some of his recent roles – and the actor seems to agree! "I was making [bad] movies," he reflected in a recent interview.
Unfortunately, critics have not been kind about the actor's recent work with Rotten Tomatoes critic Bilge Ebiri saying, "Does Eddie Murphy actually have any range, or is it just an illusion created by a few early edgy roles and, later, a lot of CGI makeup and fat suits?"
Jessica Simpson
She may have a number of hit singles under her belt, a successful reality series, and started a billion-dollar fashion empire, but when it comes to acting, critics believe that it's an area that just isn't Jessica Simpson's forte. And that might be why she hasn't starred in a film since 2008!
Aside from her informative documentary America The Beautiful, Simpson's roles have been met with many negative reviews from critics. In fact, all of the Dukes Of Hazzard star's films have been certified "rotten" by Rotten Tomatoes, and Jessica was dubbed a "trifle typecast" by critic Anna Smith.
Kristen Stewart
While she became a global phenomenon thanks to her role as Bella Swan in The Twilight Saga film series, Kristen Stewart went on to have a rather successful career in Hollywood. However, besides receiving rave reviews for her new film Spencer, where she plays Princess Diana, critics have never really been blown away by her acting.
The actress currently holds the number one spot on IMDb's The 40 Worst Actresses Ever list, with many slamming her performances as "emotionless." One IMDb critic says, "She is literally the worst actress EVER... she doesn't know how to portray her emotions." However, with Oscar buzz around her new role, this is all subject to change.
