Nike’s upcoming “Mamba Week” campaign, featuring new iterations of his Kobe 5 Protro shoes and Lakers jersey, is another important example of celebrating the legend of Kobe.
Most notably, five exciting designs of his signature Protos will be offered, including three in-house styles and two collaborations with UNDEFEATED.
You have the “Big Stage” and “5x Champion,” both inspired by his five NBA championships, as well as the “Girls EYBL,” channeling the monster Medusa from Greek mythology and her ability to turn opponents into stone.
Meanwhile, UNDEFEATED collaged the colors of the 12 teams that passed on Kobe in the 1996 NBA Draft, as well as the Charlotte Hornets, which traded him to Los Angeles after selecting him 13th overall. The eclectic result is the “What If” pack.
In true Mamba fashion, The Swoosh is also dropping a Los Angeles Lakers City Edition faux-snakeskin jersey displaying Kobe’s old school #8 on the front and #24 on the back.
“Mamba Week” is set to launch on Monday, Aug. 23, one day before 8/24 – the newly declared Kobe Bryant Day in California’s Orange County. Nike’s SNKRS app will house all of this gear. Prices are unknown.
