The NFL's 55th Super Bowl taking place in Tampa Bay in early February is set to feature The Weeknd as the Pepsi Halftime Show headliner.

The Weeknd announced the huge news on his IG with a couple of brief strobe light-filled hype videos as well as a leathery profile shot. Alongside this same photo, Pepsi's official IG account wrote, "When your talent is limitless, you belong on the world’s largest stage."

"We all grow up watching the world’s biggest acts playing the Super Bowl, and one can only dream of being in that position," The Weeknd said in a statement. "I’m humbled, honored, and ecstatic to be the center of that infamous stage this year."

The Toronto singer has had a wildly successful year, as his critically-acclaimed album 'After Hours' and the single "Blinding Lights" both reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and Hot 100, respectively. He was even named one of TIME's 100 Most Influential People of 2020.

Of course, The Weeknd will have some big shoes (or hips) to fill. Shakira and Jennifer Lopez rocked last year's halftime performance and made the occasion extra spicy by bringing out Bad Bunny and J Balvin.

JAY-Z's Roc Nation will produce the show for the second consecutive year, and Hov praised The Weeknd for cultivating a "sound all his own." He added, "His soulful uniqueness has defined a new generation of greatness in music and artistry."

Beyond the highly-anticipated setlist, there's another question weighing on the minds of fans: Whether he'll wear his signature red and black suit?
