As the latest entrant in the ongoing debate about the importance of Hermes Birkin bags in a loving relationship, Lil Durk posted a fit pic and claimed that he bought his girlfriend "property" instead.

"She ain’t want a Birkin," he added in the caption. Durkio has been in a longtime relationship with India Royale and admitted in a Montreality conversation that he's in "love." "You can't describe love, for real for real," he said. "It's just like a feeling inside. See, I'm in love."

Last week, Saweetie caused a stir online when she hopped on her man Quavo's IG Live and said, “If he not getting you a Birkin, if he not paying for your bills, then throw that n***a back to the streets, okay?"

Cardi B, whose 2-year-old daughter Kulture was gifted a birthday Birkin by her dad Offset, assured her fans, "If you a regular girl, you ain’t got to break your neck to get a Birkin." She added, "A n***a don’t care if you got a Birkin or an Aldo purse."

Nevertheless, Offset dropped more than $128,000 that same day on a slew of new Hermes purses for his boo. "Stop letting people on the internet tell ya’ll who can get a Birkin at the store, and how many Birkin’s you can get," he captioned a shot of his haul.

But who started the Birkin wave? Well, Lil Yachty subsequently credited himself with kicking off the trend, as he penned the bars, "Real a** b***h, give a f**k 'bout a n***a / Big Birkin bag hold five, six figures," for the City Girls' smash single "Act Up."

"I’m slick the reason everybody even wearing birkins rn tbh," he wrote in the comments of an Akademiks post.
