Ja Rule is interested in putting his catalog to the test against 50 Cent on Instagram Live.

Inspired by the trend of hip-hop acts participating in virtual hit-for-hit battles, Ja Rule said he's ready to take on longtime New York rival 50 Cent in a Verzuz showdown. He made the claim during a recent Instagram Live session between Fat Joe and Verzuz co-founder Swizz Beats.

Joey Crack first introduced the idea by relaying a few messages from Ja focused on his love for hip-hop and a desire to make the battle happen "for the culture." Soon after, Joe got Ja on the phone and the latter briefly laid out his intentions.

"I want all the smoke, but I'll behave," Ja said with a villainous laugh. 😂

Understandably, Swizz, who co-founded the Instagram Live Verzuz movement with fellow producer Timbaland, was hesitant about accepting Ja's proposition. He responded by saying his words sounded like a "devilish behave."

Fat Joe took a moment to think about the entertainment value of the battle. "Man, that would break the internet, Ja," he said.

Swizz eventually cracked a smile after hearing Ja say his catalog is "pretty good," but the producer was sure to make one requirement clear. "We just wanna make sure the intentions is the way they need to be," he said.

Both hailing from the borough of Queens in New York, Ja Rule and 50 Cent have a legendary hip-hop beef.

According to an interview 50 did for the 2005 biography From Pieces to Weight, his never-ending feud with Ja dates all the way back to 1999. After Ja was robbed of his chain at gunpoint in Southside Jamaica, Queens, the rapper saw 50 with the dude who robbed him at a club, leading to some bad blood.

Like any true beef, though, Ja disputes this point. He says 50 was the one who was originally salty after being snubbed by the Murder Inc. crew during a video shoot for Ja's single “Murda 4 Life."

More recently, in 2018, 50 claimed to have bought 200 tickets to one of Ja Rule's shows just to keep the seats empty. 💀

Excited fans had a few thoughts on a battle between these two rap veterans. Enjoy!
