KFC Pokes Fun at PlayStation and Xbox With Its Own Console

Kentucky Fried Chicken is getting into...the gaming business? 😂

On the heels of Sony's huge PlayStation 5 reveal, as well as Xbox crowning its next-gen Series X "the most powerful gaming console," KFC recently announced its own KFConsole to rival these two systems.

In a dramatic teaser video that's been viewed 3 million times on Twitter as of press time, KFC touts a high-tech version of its signature bucket featuring a “chicken chamber” and “cross-platform compatibility.”

The device also comes with "true 4K" and "120 FPS," though there doesn't appear to be a screen included.

With a follow-up tweet that positions the KFConsole alongside the PS5 and Series X with the question, "So... which is it going to be?" this all seems like a big stunt. But Colonel Sanders and co. mention a release date of November 11, 2020, so only time will tell what the company is really cooking.

Low-key, KFC's interest in esports goes deep, as the brand launched its official gaming division in 2018.

In addition to social media platforms dedicated to everything KFC gaming, there's a YouTube channel where players can attempt "Chicken Challenges" and watch community highlights from popular games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Fortnite.

One of the restaurant's most ambitious gaming projects happened about three years ago when they worked with Moutain Dew to create a Bluetooth mobile game controller out of a to-go chicken box.

Anyone else trying to go in on a KFConsole, though?
