PlayStation 5 Reveal: New Design, Spider-Man Sequel, NBA 2K21 & More

The PlayStation 5 is really coming to life. 🔥

After delaying the PS5 reveal by a week out of respect for the global fight against racism and police brutality, Sony delivered a first look at the revolutionary console in an hourlong live stream on Thursday.

Let's check out some of the highlights...

Design & Specs

Complimenting the black-and-white DualSense controller, the PS5 comes in a similarly sleek color scheme and two different models: one with a 4K Blu-ray drive and one without, called the Digital Edition.

Both are meant to sit vertically, like the Xbox Series X, though they can also lie horizontally. Without the disc drive, the Digital Edition definitely looks skinnier and will likely come with a slightly cheaper price tag.

As some witty social media critics pointed out, the console kind of resembles a WiFi router squished in between two sheets of paper. Y'all always got jokes, huh?

Up top, you can see the various accessories that will be sold alongside the PS5, including a Pulse 3D wireless headset, a media remote, a DualSense charging station and a new HD camera. Additionally, the gaming device will come with 825GB of storage and will be able to support 8K graphics.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Over 25 games were teased as part of the PS5 reveal, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the follow-up to the PS4-exclusive Spider-Man released in 2018, was one of the leading titles to receive a nod.

Not a whole lot of in-game action was demonstrated, but there were a couple of new features that appeared, like Miles’ electric venom blasts and controllable weather and daylight cycles.

Developer Insomniac Games also gave Morales a fresh line up, a subtle change that many players (and probably Spider-Man himself) appreciated.

NBA 2K21

One word comes to mind when watching the trailer for NBA 2K21: sweaty. Swear that every year, 2K shows off their latest graphics with up close and personal shots of players sweating bullets.

Rookie phenom Zion Williamson was the face of the minute-long 2K21 trailer, leading fans to speculate that he could very well appear on the upcoming Standard cover, while the late Kobe Bryant could grace the Legend Edition.

Either way, can someone please get dude a towel?

Ratchet & Clank, Gran Turismo 7 and GTA V (?)

For the first time in over four years, PlayStation will be bringing back everyone's favorite feline humanoid and robot duo, Ratchet & Clank, in the new interdimensional Rift Apart title.

Get ready to go even faster with the seventh installment of the Gran Turismo series, which showcases ultra-realistic virtual driving and nuanced car customization.

And somehow, someway, Grand Theft Auto V managed to sneak its way onto its THIRD PlayStation console. This time around, Rockstar and Sony are promising "a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements" in the second half of 2021.
