We have reason to believe the simulation is glitching after learning of Drake's impromptu Instagram Live conversation with the Dabbing Granny, an elderly woman who's attracted an audience of over 1 million followers by, well, taking massive dabs. 🌬️
The viral Granny, real name Gail Olson, was streaming on IG Live Wednesday morning when @champagnepapi slid in with a request to join. She wasn't sure if it was really him at first. (We can't blame her for her skepticism.) But the collaboration was verified once Granny saw his pearly whites and heard his distinct voice.
"As soon as you smiled I was like, 'Oh my god. That is him,'" she said. "Your smile lights up the room. I'm sure your momma told you that from the time you were an itty-bitty little baby."
"Well thank you. Yeah, my mom always told me to smile in pictures, and I was always self-conscious about it back in the day," Drake responded. "But now, it's too many great things going on. I have to smile once in a while, you know?"
It's only fitting that during the chat, Drake acknowledged that he was about to smoke a spliff. When Granny wished him well on his wake 'n' bake adventures, though, he dropped a little dime.
"You know, it's so funny, you're waking up and I'm going to sleep," he admitted. "I just left the studio, I'm working on a new album." The Dabbing Granny inquired about the release date, but Drake quickly played it off, saying, "I don't know. When it's done, we'll see. Hopefully soon, right?"
And just like that, the moment went up in smoke. 🤣
It's not clear how Drake originally caught wind of the Dabbing Granny, but you gotta respect his friendly and warm attitude.
